Discipline Workshop – When to Say ‘Yes,’ When to Say ‘No,’ and How to Do It – 3 hours
Attending: Entire community is invited. This workshop is especially important for the parents of the young children. Early childhood teachers are encouraged to urge their parents to come.
This workshop is based on Rudolf Steiner’s idea of Inner Freedom as set forth in the book Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path. Parents identify goals for their children and learn about the 4 skills of will as they relate to a spectrum of parenting methods known as the “Boot Camp – Mayhem” continuum. They also learn how to parent with loving authority.
Teen Parenting Workshop – Moving from Authority to Guidance – 2.5 hours
Attending: parents of teens and of up-and-coming teens.
This workshop deals with the need for parents to begin to relinquish the reins of their child’s life, gradually, so that the child begins to make his or her own decisions. It deals with how to support a child in learning to make considered decisions, without disrespecting the child and without being unsafe. It helps parents over the teen years to gradually move the relationship towards one of friendship and mentorship.
Lifeways Workshop – 2.5 hours
Attending: parents
This workshop, which can be tailored to the needs of your community, explores 12 ways to parent that support healthy children. Issues discussed include media, nutrition, toxins, unstructured play, awe and reverence, movement, touch, rhythm, order, discipline, redefining success, emotional processing, and others. The parenting skills discussed will be correlated with the healthy development of the prefrontal cortex, a major factor in mental health.
